On the evening of Thursday, March 19, 2020, Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) was notified that one of its physicians tested positive for the coronavirus, COVID-19. The physician, who worked at both the South Tampa and North Tampa/Temple Terrace locations, is recovering under self-quarantine at home and is presenting with only mild symptoms.

Out of an abundance of care, FOI & FOISC has decided to temporarily close all of its offices and surgery centers in Hillsborough County and Wesley Chapel. In accordance with recommendations made by health authorities, staff members who may have come in contact with this individual are under quarantine at home as a precaution. In addition, FOISC is working directly with public health officials to quickly identify any patients who may have been exposed and notify them accordingly.

At FOISC, there is no higher priority than the safety of our patients, staff, and physicians, and our team is committed to managing this matter with the utmost care. We are consulting with officials at the Hillsborough County Health Department to ensure that each FOI location is cleaned and sanitized to the strictest of standards.

Patients with surgical appointments scheduled at either FOISC Telecom or FOISC Citrus Park during this timeframe will be contacted to reschedule.
